Well…I took a chance on this one. Deciding to put this slam poem on the album was a bit risky but I wasn’t doing an album to “get signed”. All of these songs (and poems) were in my soul…down deep…and needed to get out. I was mowing my lawn one day and this poem started to come to me. When I would tell people that I was going to have a slam poem on my album the usual reaction was “Really?” No matter what, “You might not like what I’ve got to say but at least admire the courage it takes”.

Before we go further please understand
what I believe at the core of who I am.
Before I'm a husband, before I'm a father
I'm a no name believer and an honest responder
to the revelation that burns in my soul
that began as a child many years ago...

Jesus, ya that guy that rose from the dead.
Just sayin' His name turns so many heads
I boldly yet humbly as a believer stand
proclaiming that Jesus is all the way God and all the way man.
His life on the earth, His death on the cross
began a revolution that still changes hearts
His love and mercy abound and take flight
when one has the courage to look into HIs eyes.
Justice and judgement start to make sense
when we decide to trust and lower our defense.
Many of my songs in one way or another
come from my love for Him...my God and my brother.

The songs you have heard and the songs you will hear
are musical poems composed through the years.
Its a compilation, a contemplation
the burden and soul of an artist creation
take it or leave it, download it, delete it
but at least listen to it once before proceeding with it.

You might not like what I've got to say
but at least admire the courage that it takes.

So sit back relax, I'm honored to have your ear
I proceed with a subtle yet sobering fear
and now that I've spoken I hope you understand
the reason for my music at the core of who I am.
