about

“Paint” was birthed out of the combination of pressure, frustration, disappointment, and exhaustion. It became a song and a prayer. It was a prayer for a return to simplicity and innocence. It was a song recognizing that all the things that seem real ultimately let you down while the things that seem too good to be true might just be true after all.
I think sometimes our actions can catch the attention of God and we figuratively paint a target on our souls. What happens next? The broken and the faithful hold the stories.

lyrics

I’M NOT LOOKING FOR SOMETHING FLEETING
I’M NOT HERE TO JOIN THE CROWD
I’M HERE BECAUSE I’M NEEDING
TO GET THINGS STRAIGTENED OUT

I’VE GOT CHAOS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
FRUSTRATION LEFT TO RIGHT
I NEED EVERYTHING TO SLOW DOWN
CAN YOU HEAR ME HERE TONIGHT?

SO IT’S TIME TO CONFESS
THAT I HAVE SETTLED FOR LESS THAN YOUR BEST!!!

TO MUCH TIME HAS SLIPPED AWAY
FROM WHEN I SIMPLY ENJOYED YOUR NAME
I PAINT A TARGET ON MY SOUL
GO AHEAD GOD TAKE CONTROL

IF IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE REAL
BE SURE TO COUNT ME IN
CUS WHAT I TRUSTED TO BE REAL
ONLY LED TO MY DEAD END.

SO IT’S TIME TO CONFESS
THAT I HAVE SETTLED FOR LESS THAN YOUR BEST!!!

TO MUCH TIME HAS SLIPPED AWAY
FROM WHEN I SIMPLY ENJOYED YOUR NAME
I PAINT A TARGET ON MY SOUL
GO AHEAD GOD TAKE CONTROL

SO IT’S TIME TO CONFESS
OH IT’S TIME TO CONFESS
SO IT’S TIME TO CONFESS
THAT I HAVE SETTLED FOR LESS THAN YOUR BEST!!!

TO MUCH TIME HAS SLIPPED AWAY
FROM WHEN I SIMPLY ENJOYED YOUR NAME
I PAINT A TARGET ON MY SOUL
GO AHEAD GOD TAKE CONTROL
